Family Day
For all of those interested in getting together before the Reunion, there will be a Family Day at Great Bridge Locks Park.
Great Bridge Locks Park is located on Locks Road off Battlefield Boulevard.
Family Day (as the name suggests) will be geared more to those who want to involve their children. It will offer a completely different setting and environment. As requested, it will be a potluck/picnic.
A shelter has been rented so there will be a small entry fee. The fee will most likely be $3/family. However, the actual fee may be a dollar more or a dollar less depending on attendance (most likely it will be less). The entry fee will be decided as we get closer to the reunion (and get a firm number on expected attendees). The fee can be paid upon arrival at Locks Park.
The festivities will begin at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 7. Everything will wind down by 3 so alumni can get ready for the Reunion (starting at 6 pm).
In order for this event to be a success, we need people to RSVP by using the below form. We also need people to be generous as they sign up for the potluck. Please plan on spending $10-$15 to cover your family's contribution to the potluck. We need people to bring everything from plastic utensils and napkins to charcoal and lighter fluid to disposable plates and cups to soda and ice. Of course, please sign up for hamburgers and hot dogs (buns, condiments, and fixings also), side dishes, chips/dip and dessert. If you are bringing a side dish or food please bring a large spoon/necessary utensil to serve the food (if applicable).
A grill will be available as will tables to lay out food. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs, toys and games, or whatever you and your family will need in order to have a fun day outdoors. It is recommended that if you bring a side dish or a non-disposable kitchen product that you clearly mark your name and phone number on your kitchenware.
Please note that this is not a family only event. However, it will be an outdoor event and there will be a number of children present. Feel free to come alone or with your spouse or a date. Your presence will be welcome.
Again, please be sure to RSVP and to arrive with a contribution. It is a potluck. Please try and arrive at 11 if at all possible (charcoal will not be helpful if it arrives at 2:30). Do NOT arrive without bringing something to be shared. Please feel free to team up with other alumni (2 or 3 families can team up to bring a 6 foot sub or a couple of pizzas). Even if you decide to come last minute, please check the list below before purchasing an item to bring and stop by the grocery store or a restaurant to get whatever is lacking. If you RSVPd and your plans change at last minute, please notify someone - other alumni will be expecting you to bring what you signed up for. People are counting on you.
In the event of poor weather, please check this page (the week of) for updates.
